Kitchen aid KP26M1MR5 Agitator shaft

Kitchenaid stand mixer KP26M1XMR (there is no number after the MR but it is Pro 600 in the Meringue color) I was told that the planetary for it (9708662) is discontinued but WP9708175 would work even thought it is a different color. The agitator shaft is loose and when I attach the attachments is moves up and down and when I make dough I notice what appears to be what I think is grease on it. I have noticed very fine metal specks on the base of the stand. The planetary itself seems to be stable. Would replacing the agitator shaft WP9708191 and pinion gear W11133646 solve this problem?

This all sounds logical, but I would disassemble and check for other pieces that may be worn, so as not to have to do it but once.

If you’re seeing grease and fine metal specks on the base of the stand I’d think they metal is going to whatever your mixing also. I wouldn’t use it until it’s repaired.

I’ve taken the planetary off and it has alot of metal shavings. Everything in the transmission area and gears looks okay. Thinking it needs cleaned re-greased. I think the pinion gear and the metal gear that goes under the planetary needs replacing. Does anyone know how to remove it?
