The right door spring on my old Kitchen Aid dishwasher broke. Easy fix … BUT … the door has a large, heavy wooden insert that makes the dishwasher match the surrounding cabinet. We added this when we remodeled the kitchen many years ago, and when it was first added, the door would drop down heavily. The installer then found some “heavy duty” springs that supply more tension than the standard springs. These counter-balance the door perfectly.
Does anyone know where I could get a replacement for the ruptured heavy-duty spring? I could try welding the broken spring, but I have very low confidence that such a fix will hold. I could buy the regular spring and try to add tension to it by attaching it further up the door.
Thank you, thank you! Yes, that is exactly what I’m looking for. I checked the dimensions, and my broken spring is exactly 4.5 inches. I also checked this site for other posts about this part, and I’m quite sure it will work.
As soon as I finish this post, I’ll go to your ordering desk and buy it.
Springs arrived the next day after ordering. Took less than two minutes to remove panel, install springs, and button everything up. The springs are exactly the correct part.
