My friend has a Kitchen Aid KGSA906PSS01. The gas burners on the stove and the convection fan and electric heating element in the oven work fine, but the oven gas won’t work.
He replaced the spark module and the ignitor. Next we will check the gas valve and the ERC. There are no error codes. Is there a way to do a self-test as with other appliances? Any other ideas?
One of the most common problems with Direct Spark Ignition operating system is a bad gas valve/regulator. You can check it as instructed in the Tech sheet (page 4).
Thanks Gene. I tested the resistance of the gas valve terminals as described on page 4 of the tech manual and I got a good reading on one but nothing on the other, so as the note states, if one is bad then neither with operate. Since we are not getting an error code, would you agree that the gas valve probably needs to be replaced?
If you know how to handle a simple tools, this part is not too difficult to replace yourself.
Remove the bottom drawer, pull the range out of the wall, shut off the gas to the range, unplug the power cord and disconnect the gas line. You’ll see what to do next.
Sorry it’s taken a while to get back to you, but thanks the help, it worked. We replaced the valve in about 5 minutes, piece of cake. The oven is back up and running.
