When I pull the start the machine just clicks like the timer is working but the machine will not start
I assume this is a basic Kenmore top loader made by Whirlpool.
Move the timer to the spin position and see if it will spin. If it will the water level switch may be the problem so check it out. If not, and it will not spin try replacing the timer.
If you need more help please post a full model number and the results of doing the above.
I have a kenmore series 80 model #110.29882891
ok the water level shut off when it should but it will not spin i tried different positions nothing
Ok, if it drained then the coupling is suspect. If it did not drain when yyou moved the dial to spin, then check out the lid switch.
did not drain the lid switch clicks but how do i check it
Again, assuming this is a direct drive top loader, you can open up the console and you will find a plastic connectore to the lid switch. Take that connector apart and you can either use a multi-meter to test continuing when the lid is down, or you can use a solid core wire to jumper the lid switch (insert stripped ends of the wire into the non green wire connector holes on the connector coming from the console) and see if it works.
Also, there are videos in the video library section at the top of the main washer repair page that will help you.
jumping the lid switch worked thanks for the help:)
Great, glad you found the problem and thanks for updating us.
A month ago i had trouble now its doing the same thing it did before i still have the lid switched wired together now what do i do
My washer will not complete the cycle it stops on the second spin and at times it will not even start the cycle until i turn the knob to find a spot that it will start ( i put it in ultra clean cycyle say 10 min wash pull the knob it just clicks i turn the knob to pre soak pull the knob it start then i turn the knob back to ultra clean and it works untill it goes to the second spin ) and i already jumped the lid switch. Now what??]
Sounds like you never replaced the lid switch.
I would go ahead and put in a new lid switch but that probably will not fix your problem which sounds like a new timer is needed.
