Kenmore Washer

I would like to know how to remove the aggitator. There is a sour smell in the washer, and I want to clean under it. As you see, the washer is over 10 years old, and has never been cleaned under the aggitator.
Thanks, Carol

Lift off the cap and you will see a bolt (probably 7/16") Use a socket wrench to take it out and the agitator should lift out.

There are agitator “dogs” which are cams in agatator that make the agitator agitate. Be careful lifting the agitator out so that you can replace it correctly. Otherwise you will be very agitated but your clothes will not be.

Good luck.
