I have a Kenmore Heavy Duty 70 Series Washer Model #110.92272100 (Serial#CC13990860). On Normal, Permanent Press, and Pre-Wash cycles it fills with water but then stops. On Heavy Duty cycle it fills with water and runs through the cycle ok.
The lid switch appears to be working fine since it works on Heavy Duty. I have replaced the timer (Part# 661597) but still have the same problem.
What should I do next?
I believe that a faulty timer is the only thing that could cause this but I need to see your wiring diagram and timer chart to be sure on this model. Post a photo of your diagrams here. They are located inside the control panel either pasted to the inside of the rear panel or as a folded up sheet of paper.

Eric - thanks for the information. I have attached the diagram. I have replaced the timer switch already but that did not take care of the issue.

I have the opposite happening on mine…use to work on HEAVY DUTY before replacing transmission but now works in Normal…I believe its the SPEED switch…can anyone confirm??
So, I’m guessing that drain and spin will in fact work in the normal cycle if you manually set the timer to that point of the cycle. If that is the case, it looks like the low speed function of the motor is not working. You will need to remove the cabinet and check the orange wire at the motor wiring harness connector. It may be broken at the terminal or the terminal is corroded or burned and not making good contact.

Eric - The drain and spin will not work in the normal cycle if I manually set the timer to that point of the cycle. Same thing for Permanent Press and pre-wash. They will not work in any stage after the water fills. the setting works correctly is heavy duty.
I did pull the cabinet and check all connections and looked for burned connections as well. I didn’t see anything that looked burned. No loose connections but I went ahead and disconnected and reconnected all electrical connections.
I really appreciate all of your suggestions.
Thx

Then the problem must be the timer. In heavy duty cycle, all motor function is high speed only. In normal cycle, agitation is in low speed but drain and spin is high speed. If drain/spin works fine in heavy duty but not at all in normal cycle then the timer is the only thing it can be. You are testing with the lid closed, correct? If you buy the timer through us, it can be returned if it doesn’t fix the problem but there’s really nothing else that can cause this problem.

A brand new timer was installed on Thursday and the problem still exists.

It’s not unheard of to receive a faulty “new” timer. The ONLY difference between drain/spin in normal cycle and drain/spin in heavy duty cycle is that a different part of the cam drum inside the timer is used to activate the contacts within the timer.
