Kenmore washer will agitate but will nto spin and drain water

Hello,

I overloaded my washer apparently and while spinning it was making this really loud shaking noise. I ran after it and as soon as I went to hit the button, it stopped on it’s on. I removed all the clothes and turned the knob to the spin cycle and nothing happened. I started the washer cycle from the beginning and it is agitating fine, but when it gets to the spin cycle it does nothing. What the heck have I done??? Please Help! How can I fix this problem? Can I fix it?

Probably a bad lid switch, part # AP3100001

How do you open this machine and change this part? Is this a job my husband could do? He’s pretty good at the basics, with intructions. Or is this a job for the repair man?

Go to www.applianceaid.com for info on this direct drive Whirlpool washer.

This part is not too difficult to replace yourself. He has to remove the washer cabinet to access the lid switch. The disassembly instructions attached.
