Kenmore upright freezer 253.28432809 cooling but not freezing

Main Symptom: Not Freezing
What happens & when: freezer was cooling but not freezing. Top section of coils were partially frosted over from the left side. Fan was blowing inside freezer. Freezer has been unplugged for a few weeks, and when I plugged it back in today, same thing. After 4 hours, freezer is at 60°, fan is blowing, and top of coils are frosted about halfway across from the left side.

Hello, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this looks like a sealed system problem. Either a restriction or more than likely a low freon charge. You would need a certified tech to verify this and make any repairs.

About 20 hours plugged in and freezer is still running and at 40°. Coils are still only partially frosted. Does this confirm your initial thoughts?

Yes it does that is a sealed system problem for sure!
