Kenmore oven only works in self-clean mode

This oven is almost 15 years old, so I realize that this may be a longshot, but finances for a replacement are basically non-existent so I have to try.

Last night as I was preparing to bake bread the oven was working fine. I turned it on to 400 for 1 minute and then turned it off so that the bread could rise. My daughter moved the latch to the lock position to prevent anyone from opening it during the rising time. When I went to turn it on again for baking, the self-clean “door latch” light started blinking and the oven would not preheat. It only wants to self-clean. I tried turning the breaker off in hopes that the oven would reset and nothing changed. I moved the latch back and forth a lot in case there was something stuck in there but nothing changed. So, I went ahead and ran it through the self-clean mode hoping it would “get it out of its system,” but this morning it’s still doing the same thing. The display and burners are working fine.

Can this be fixed? If so, is it worth it given the age of the oven?

This is very serious mistake which can cause a lot of troubles including but not limited to a food burned to ashes inside the oven. As soon as the oven temperature reaches a specified by design level, nobody would be able to unlock the door until the oven cools down.

According to your description, possible there is a problem with the door latch switches. The model number you posted is incomplete. There suppose to be 3 digits prefix. Verify and repost it please.
