Kenmore Oven - Glass Top

Hello all!

I have a kenmore stove and today the large burner on the front right of the glass top decided to come on full blast and stay on full blast. All I could do was shut the breaker off. I faintly remember a recall on this stove but I can’t find anything online. The only other thing I found was that I may need to replace the whole control board.

Any ideas on anything I can do? Obviously this is a safety hazard and my wife is a bit freaked out. The SN starts with NF621XXXXX

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Matt

I would call Sears

I’ve confirmed the recall work has been done, now I think I need part # 316441814

I just want to disconnect the burner, what’s the easiest way to do that? Take off the glass top and just pull the wires?

Here is the parts diagram - ftp://ftp.electrolux-na.com/SearsCanada/Kenmore%20PL/C970-688024.pdf

Ok, I got the burner disconnected. I pulled the red wire and black wire to the board in the above picture, I taped them up with electrical tape and tucked them in. The front burner no longer works, all three other burners and oven work fine. I taped them really well so I think that should be safe.

As long as the taped connector cannot overheat and melt the tape you should be OK.

Note that the brown also goes to an element as the right front is dual element.
