I wanted to share my sucessful repair (cross fingers) hoping it might save someone else a few bucks. My less than 2 year old HE washing machine gave me an F01 error code the other night while doing a load. I opened the bottom kick panel and found the service repair guide which gave some suggestions on how to clear / troubleshoot the error code pointing to the CCU as being the problem. None of the steps proved to be successfull really so I read a little more on-line. I located the CCU (remove top cover of washing machine and it is located on front right hand side - bunch of wires going to it). Checked all connectors for proper seating and all looked good (AC removed). Now I’m not sure which step fixed my problem but I’ll describe what I did. I removed and re-seated each of the wiring connectors to the CPU and I also left the unit unplugged over-night (previous attempts of removing power for 10 minutes did nothing). The following morning all was well when I tried to do a rinse-spin cycle. I’ve done a couple more since then and hope to continue doing so with any luck! Certainly follow the steps in the user / service manual to attempt to clear your trouble but this may help as well. It saved me a service call and probably a $200 CCU board!
Great, we always try to tell folks to clean and reseat the connections so glad to see that trick worked for you.
As with many appliance boards, relays that switch 120 VAC tend to create surge currents through the solder connections that attach the relays to the PC board. My dryer displayed a F01 also. After taking the control board out and examining the solder side of the board, it was immediately apparent that the solder joint for one of the relays had worn away and was causing arcing on the underside. I simply soldered a piece of 16 AWG wire in its place and the F01 issue is now resolved. Don’t pay hundreds if dollars for a simple repair like this.
