Kenmore HE2 Plus Washer Issue

Hello. My washer stopped working when a load was finishing and it had 1 minute left on the timer. Nothing happened, and it was unresponsive to any button pushes. Unplugged it and manually opened the door to empty the machine. After resetting, it appeared to be fine until starting another cycle, upon which the door would lock and nothing else would happen…again becoming unresponsive.
The service history mode revealed two error codes: f24 and f26.
However, when the diagnostic test begins, the door locks and the Clean Washer light flashes…nothing else. Only the power button or stop button will cause the Normal/Casual light to flash. After that nothing else and it locks up until I unplug it and start over.
FYI…I can only enter the diagnostic menu when the machine is off and the successive 4sec button press/release sequence.

I’ve read several discussions and so far have checked all connections, checked resistance on the sensor, and also checked continuity and resistance on the door latch. All checked out ok.

I did notice that when I pull the DS2 cable off the CCU, I can back out of cycles power the machine down with the power button. Also it will allow me to enter the diagnostic test bypassing the error history by pressing 2nd Rinse 4 times with the dial indicator on Clean Washer (*not Rinse, Drain, and Spin as the manual instructs). But the diagnostic test still hangs up unless I either back out of it or turn it off.

I don’t want to put hundreds into this machine as it is over 7 years old (and DW wants a top loader anyway) But if I can repair it for less than $250, I will. It seems this unit has a lot of chatter online. Is this one a lemon, that I should just cut my losses and run?

Any ideas or feedback appreciated!

Ok, well…
I ordered the CCU and door switch, but it still did the same thing…so I returned them and then tried replacing the front user control panel. Still no luck. Could it be the MCU??
