I am using a newer kenmore that hasn’t been used in approximately 8 months, when it is first turned on I don’t even hear water pouring in. After a few minutes it flashes the f21 code and stops.I pulled out the water inlet and cleaned the filters, but I am still getting the code F21 (Drain problem). If i lay it on its back can I get to the drain pump to check it???
I need help, I tore a chunk of the congoleum trying to put the washer back in place…not a great day yesterday!!!
WE at the exact problem witha similar Whirlpool model which turned out to be an issue with the pressure switch and was simple to correct. Please look at my reponses and referenced links at:

I am having the same symptoms and error (F21) on an Kenmore HE2 washer, as above. Can you give me any more information about the pressure switch? The service manual says nothing about it with the exception of showing it in the wiring diagram. Physically where is it? Is it repairable or just replaceable?
Thanks, Gary
my he4t did this and it was baby socks stopping up a drain filter. the sears tech removed the socks and recommended that we place small items in a mesh bag, no more problems. i do not know where the drain filter is located, you may can find on a parts diagram.
Yes, you can access drain plug/filter by leaning the washer back on an angle. There are two screws on each side of the bottom cover plate. When you remove the screws you can take off the plate and to the right you will see the drain plug (a large thread plug) and the pump motor. Use a cresent wrench or a pair of channel lock pliers to unscrew (counter clock wise) the drain plug. It will have some water in it, so you might want to have a small plastic bowl handy to catch water or a large beach towel to catch water.
