was ready to go out and buy a new ignitor until I found this forom, and checked the thermal fuse first, it was bad, does that mean that the thermostat is also bad ??? can and should it be tested befor putting in a fuse ?? by passed fuse and it lights and seems to cycle on & off ok and not overheating, that I can tell
Very Important, Particularly with a Gas Dryer
The thermal fuse will blow because something has gotten too hot in the dryer, usually the vent system. Please thoroughly clean the dryer, particularly the venting system.
I would replace the thermostat also, this is cheap preventive care.
Good luck.
gas dryer running but not heating
What could it be
Thanks, makes a lot of sense, had a feeling there may be a reason behind it, dryer has a pretty long run in attic before exiting roof, will check flex pipe for buildup, correction, did check it’s not a flex pipe, but a 4in gal steel run, some build up but not that much will remove and clean this wknd

Most common issue is a bad thermal fuse. What is the complete model number of the dryer?
Gene.
