Kenmore Elite Icing up

Kenmore Elite refrigerator
Model 795.72043.110
Once a week, I think its the fan in freezer, sounds like its rubbing against ice
There’s No build up of ice in freezer compartment but after I unplug, empty the freezer, and manually defrost freezer by running a hair blower in it for about 45 minutes, refrigerator quiets down for another 5-7 days. There’s been a little puddle of water in refrigerator (not freezer) under bottom food drawer that I have to wipe down 2 times a day. I think this all has to do with either the freezer defrost heater or defrost control assembly. How can I tell if its the freezer or fresh food compartment that giving me the problem without replacing a bunch of unnecessary parts?

Hi,

This is not “really” a defrosting…12-24 hours with the refrigerator unplugged and the doors open is a good defrosting.

Does -sound- like the fan blade was hitting something, ice is a common trouble maker.

That sounds more like a restricted or clogged defrost drain and the water is spilling out inside every time a defrost cycle occurs.
The drain does NOT have to be clogged solid, just restricted enough so the water cannot run away fast enough and some spills out.

I’d flush out both drains (FF&FZ) after a good defrosting to allow the refrigerator to start fresh again and then see what happens.
