I’ve seen this question at several websites but have never seen a resolved answer. Our washer is for unknown reasons ripping our clothes. It didn’t used to do this. Seems aligned properly but I don’t know if I could tell if it wasn’t. The bellow appears in good condition, no holes or tears. I’ve read the bellow can cause this, but without any apparent damage, I haven’t a clue how to determine it’s condition and it looks too difficult of a task for me to replace. Before I hire a Sears technician who will charge me half what I paid for the washer, I wanted to see if I could figure out the problem. We’ve had the washer about 8 years and I’d rather buy a new one than pay hundreds of dollars to fix the old one unless it’s a relatively simple, cost effective repair.
If you look around the rubber (grey) ring inside washer you’ll see at the top a white clip that holds a sprayer that sprays water, the clip has squared off edges that catch the clothes and then they tear as the drum spins. I took off the clip and used a file to file off edges and make them rounded.
If that was the cause it would have been doing this from the beginning. It was fine for over seven years then suddenly has started doing this. The sprayer is in the same condition it’s always been so I’m sure that’s not the problem.
