Kenmore Elite 90 New clutch slipping

Old washer, new tranny, new timer, couplers ok, new clutch, drive block ok, but the clutch is still slipping and clothes are still wet/damp after final spin.

I checked the clutch a week or so ago and there was some grease buildup in it so I wiped it clean with a paper towel and put it all back together. It was ok for a short while, then started slipping again.

I took it apart again a couple of days ago and I found a bronze/copper metallic film over the pads on the inside of the clutch. I washed it all down with soap and a scrub brush, dried it well, reassembled it, and tested a spin (tried to hold basket with my hand while in spin mode) and it passed with flying colors. Now after just one or two loads, it’s slipping again. I haven’t taken it apart again to see what’s in the clutch now (probably more of the copper stuff). Any idea where that could be coming from or what’s causing the slipping? The machine starts to spin fine when the basket is empty and there is no strain on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! (Please let me know if there is any other information I’ve left out or would be helpful)

Interesting and difficult problem here, hard to say what is causing this.

I can only conclude that something is grinding or wearing with the machine. I suggest you remove the cabinet, bypass the lid switch and observe the undercarriage while the machine is running. You may be able to see the source of the contamination.

Good luck, hope this helps.
