Kenmore Elite 36" Gas Cooktop - ignitor won't light

I have one ignitor (out of the 5) that will not light. Turning any control knob, including the one with the broken ignitor, to “Lite” will cause all ignitors to spark, except the broken one (right rear).

I replaced the broken ignitor with a new one and have the same result. Out of curiosity I tried this…If I pull the ignitor out with the wire still attached and hold it with the electrode close to the burner base, it sparks. When I put it back in it’s place, it won’t spark again.
What else could it be?

Thanks!

Update: I was sure I had gas supply to the burner in question but I couldn’t remember so to confirm it, I used a match to light the burner. It lit, so I turned the control valve full open and down to low and it worked fine, then I turned it off. Next I used the knob to power the ignitor and what do you know…it sparked and lit! Now it works normally again.

I’m not sure why it’s working now, but it is. If anyone has an explanation as to what I did to get it working again, I’d love to hear it.
Thanks.

Hello.

Possible, that the ignitor tip was not clean and your manipulations took care of it.
Any way, did you try to move the objects around?
Just joking.
