Kenmore Dryer drum felt welded to plastic guide

Kenmore dryer. I replaced felt on the door and it ran perfectly and quietly for two days. Then the drum froze solid. Upon investigation, it turned out that the plastic guide on the drum had melted and frozen to the felt. Why could this have happened? If I replace the guide and felt will this just happen again?
