I am trying to determine what is wrong with this as it cleans good but runs the wash cycle for over 2 hours, whether on smartwash or normal wash. Appears to be in otherwise good shape. Is this worth fixing? Is there a diagnostic for this and an easy fix I can do or have done? I don’t use it as I am afraid it will burn itself up.
I looked up the operators manual at Sears and it looks like there is little difference between the two cycle types.
They say it can be 1 hour and 37 minutes and then you have you add the water heat up time to this.
Perhaps test the water temperature. It should be at least 120 degrees F.
Measure it at the tap if the unit is close to the sink.
If it takes a while to get the water hot at the sink/dishwasher some folks have to runthe hot watyer before starting a wash.
I tested with a meat thermometer that may not be working. I went to the electric water heater and see both top and bottom controls are set to 125. Is it OK to push the reset buttons in it to make sure both are activated?
I do not think pushing reset will do anything.
If both elements were not working you probably would have noticed the water getting cold sooner and taking much longer to heat up.
I would get a thermometer you can trust and re-try measuring the water temperature at the tap.
