We bought this washer a few months ago and have been trying to diagnose a violent spin cycle. I’ve done the main things, replacing the suspension springs and the snubber pads, but neither of those fixed the issue. I’m looking for some help figuring out what to try next, and when I should just call it and replace the machine. What else should I be looking at as an issue? It seems like I’ve stepped up into the $200/part range (balance ring on inner tub, transmission, etc.) and at that point I feel like it may just be worth biting the bullet and getting a different machine.

Some follow up/accessory questions to that.

  1. When I tore down the washer to replace the snubber pads, I noticed a lot of grease on the driveshaft and agitator (see gallery). I originally thought it was just grease that was supposed to be there, but everything I’m seeing says there shouldn’t be any grease on these parts. Can someone confirm that? If there’s not supposed to be grease, is this oil from the gear case leaking? If so, I’m assuming there’s a decent chance that’s the source of the shaking?

  2. The bottom of the inner tub has some corrosion (see gallery), is this an issue? I could probably get most of it off, but there will be some left over. I’d prefer not to buy a new inner tub, just trying to gauge how clean it needs to be to continue using.

Thanks for your question, based on the amount of grease present, I suspect there may be a transmission-related issue. At this point, I would consider that the primary concern and recommend addressing it before focusing on the shaking issue, as the transmission problem could potentially be contributing to the machine’s overall performance and operation.
