Kenmore 100 dryer Heating Element

I was replacing the heating element on my Kenmore 100 dryer. All went well, but then i accidentally touched something (not sure what exactly) in the area of the element with one of my tools. It created a spark, and now the new element wont heat up. Any suggestions on what that spark might have burned out? I replaced the fuse already with no luck. thanks.

You may have caused the heating element wire to contact the metal support and damaged it to the point that it will continue to short out. Take it apart and check to see where it is contacting and see if it is only a temporary situation. Chances are the element will need to be replaced.

The element will certainly need to be checked for damage. Also, if the model number of your appliance could be provided, it may allow the most accurate information to be presented.
