As described above. Unit is under 5 years old. Smelled an electrical smell and didn’t know what it was. Smelled it again this AM and noticed that the dishwasher wasn’t working. Used the 1-2-3-1-2-3-1-2-3 button press to get into service mode. Struggled to figure out how to see the error code but ended up figuring out you have to press the last button in the 1-2-3 series. Confirmed error code 7-1.

Can select modes like normal, but then when we press start nothing happens. Don’t hear or see filling.

Finnimus,

The F7E1 error indicates a single speed wash motor failure. Check to make sure that there is nothing caught in the circulation pump. If there is not then start a cycle and check to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the motor. If there is but will not start then the wash motor is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Would it still be a wash motor if the unit is not filling up with water? Would the fill valve still open?

Coming back here to close the loop. The filter self destructed and caused the motor to be unable to turn and burn it out.

It appears part number W11643383 is the root cause of the failure. I didn’t have time to tear it apart, investigate, and then order parts. Just this is around $80 and that doesn’t guarantee you didn’t already burn out your motor, so I ended up replacing the whole motor and it’s working fine.
