Jenn-aire electric cooktop

lower left cooktop element will not heat, I tried new element, but with same results, what is my next step?

The switch may be bad. Try the element in a different spot on the cooktop just to make sure it’s a good element.

Thanks for the quick response, I tried the element in a different position on the stove and the element worked well. I see from the parts diagram that there are two other devices directly under the element ,they look like switches of some kind. would the problem be there, pls advise or provide alternate approach, thanks.

Do you have a meter that you can use for some electrical testing?

yes iI have a meter for AC/DC voltage and ohm testing, not real familiar with the OHM part, but if needed, can you supply simple directions, thanks

Yes I have an AC/DC voltage and OHM meter, not real familiar with using the OHM part but will give it a try, pls supply any directions that may help me, thx’s

Hello, Magician59 are you still willing to help with this problem, awaiting your response.

Sorry for the delay. Had to do some work on my compputer. Remove the element and turn the switch on. Set your meter to the 600VAC range and see if the receptacle is getting voltage. Report what you read. Be very careful not to let your meter probes touch each other or ground to any metal while doing this test.

my multi meter has only 2 settings for v/ac, they are 200 and 750, which will do the trick for me of is it a no go for this meter?
