Jenn-Air not making ice, water ok

Hi,

I have a 4 yr old Jenn-air that stopped making ice about 3 weeks ago. I replaced the water filter and the water dispenses fine with lots of pressure, but its not making any ice. I usually hear the water fill up when the ice maker is working. The ice fill line has water in it but not all the way and the water is not looking too clean probably from sitting there too long.

I took the back of the fridge off and saw the dual water inlet valve with two solenoids. Could it be the solenoid is bad. We have hard water where I live so I am hoping the solenoid is filled with gunk and gave up.

Another feedback is appreciated.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
The valve can leak because of sediment in the water preventing it from closing or low water pressure.

its a good idea. only problem is the water lines are different sizes. The water dispenser line is larger OD than ice maker line.

if I swap the electrical wires, then I can only check the solenoids. is this correct ?

You will also be testing the water line. The dispenser switch will be operating the water valve for the ice maker because of the swapped wires and the water will go to the ice maker.

I connected power to the ice line solenoid and it works fine. water pumps to the ice maker. I left it over night hoping that the filled tray will trigger the ice to be dispensed and new water to be filled…no luck the tray is filled with ice but not ejecting.

Something in the ice maker itself is not working and not sending signal to the water valve to fill.

Any suggestions on where to test next. is the ice maker the problem or a dead sensor somewhere else.
