I started the washer on “light wash” and it made a funny noise when it started filling with water. I canceled the cycle and the washer drained. I restarted it on “normal wash,” it started to fill but it would never start the wash cycle, but it will drain. What could be the problem? Thanks for your help.

Remove the bottom panel and check for a slow water leak through the pump which could cause rust to the motor bearings.
In such case you have to order the pump & motor bushing assembly together with the pump seal/impeller kit.
If there is nothing wrong then possible a foreign object stuck inside the pimp.

The repairman took the dishwasher apart and found two little pieces of hard plastic that was keeping it from running properly. At first, I couldn’t figure out where the plastic came from, but after searching my utensils, etc. I found the cheese grater had broke and the pieces got down in the washer. It cost me $156 to get it fixed, but it works fine now. Good luck.
