I am having a problem getting parts information and installation information about my Jenn Air electric cook top and I am hoping you can assist me.

I have a Jenn Air JED 8230 ADB electric cook top. The left side only ( as you face the unit) has an "intermittent heat problem. I have replaced both “infinite” switches and tightened all exposed electrical connectors on the coil element cartridges. The intermittent heat problem is only when I use the coil element cartridges. When I use the “grill element only” the heat is constant and it works fine.

If I “prop up” one side of the cartridge with a piece of aluminum foil where it raises one side of the cartridge while plugged in, the burners work fine.

I have interchanged the "coil element cartridge’ ( I have two of them ) and the heat intermittent problem continues.

Can you advise me what is causing the intermittent problem?
Thank you

Hi Bill,
Most likely there is a loose connection in the female receptacle (#15 on the diagram).
Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for JENN-AIR JED8230ADB | AppliancePartsPros.com
Gene.
Gene,
Thanks for the suggestion. If the problem is a loose female connection ( part #15) then the grille assembly should have the same problem as the coil cartridge and it does not. This problem only accurs when I use the coil cartidge. Thanks again
How many prongs are on each cartridge?
Gene.
Four total. Three flat spades and one round spade. These are in the coil cartdidge.
What about the grille cartridge?
Also post the model numbers of the cartridges. You can find them on the bottom.
Gene.
Grille cartridge has 3 flat spade connectors and one round connector. The round connector is off-set one space from the cartridge spades.
The numbers on the bottom of the cartridge are: Model A-100
OR CAE1000ACX OR A-100C
Thanks
I believe the grille cartridge and the coil cartridge have different wiring diagrams. The model number A-100 is for the coil cartridge. What is the model number of the grille cartridge?
Gene.
Here is what all the printing on the grill cartridge says:
MAYCOR part number 74005553 P297, “use only with ranges with mfg Ident” E-25378 US or LR27211 Canada serial plate.
As far as I can see from the wiring diagram and pictures the flat spades on the coils cartridge and the grille cartridge are in a different position to the round connector (ground).
I would check the female receptacle.
Gene.
Gene,
Thanks for all your help. I’ll check the recepticle out.
