Jen Air JEC 9530 dual control switch working intermittantly, replaced it 4 ago it has worked fine since then. Now the dual burner turns on and heats up but only works for several minutes and the warm indicator light starts flashing and the burner quits working, after it cools down will start working again until it gets too hot. Checked the fan and it is working
any suggestions
thanks

Grande,
If you’re sure the fan is working properly, and moving enough air to keep the cooktop interior cool.
You’re going to need to replace the custom control switch, again.
I could’nt determine how long ago you replaced that switch, from your thread but this should be the latest updated version.

I had just bought a new switch from appliancepartpros 4/2/2010 and replaced the old switch because it was corroded. Is there a thermal shut off in that switch that may have gone bad.
Thanks

Maynard,
Yes, there is a limiter in the switch circuitry.
And a temp sensor on the burner, but I can’t recall ever replacing the sensor(part of the dual burner).
You could try opening the cabinet doors(if you have cabinets under the cooktop) and see what happens, if the problem occurs or not, that could indicate an air flow problem(cooling fan not running proper).
But, I still think the switch has failed again.
