Is my replacement Water Valve bad too?

Hi gang,

I have a Frigidaire Dishwasher that all of sudden stopped working. The front panel (all solid state, no dials) lights up, but when I start it no water starts going in. I hear something switching like normal, just no water. I replaced the water inlet valve, but no change. I am not sure if the valve is bad or I am doing something wrong.

I turned off the power, removed the wire plug from the valve, and put multimeter probes on each post. My meter reads 0L. I got a new one, tested it and it says 0L before installing it. I installed it anyway, and same thing.

Am I doing something wrong?

FWIW:

  1. The float switch is ok. It moves up and down freely. I checked the posts with my meter while the float is down and it beeps. I lift it up and the meter goes quiet.

  2. I have a clamp meter but am not sure what wires to check for AC, or even if I am using the clamp right (I know to only put the clamp around one wire at a time haha).

  3. I took the front panel off and the wires all appear in good shape. Too sets of Black&White wires go up to the latch. A bundle of wires go to the display/control panel.

  4. I filled the tub up with water, and was able to get it to drain by pushing the CANCEL button.

Thanks for the help!!!

I would verify you are getting water to the solenoid, then I would check for voltage to the water solenoid during the wash period.

Put your meter leads on the wire harness side, start the dishwasher. You should get 120 volts to that valve just a couple minutes into the cycle, less than 10 minutes for sure.
