Is it my dryer motor thats bad

I have been reading the posts on here recently because my dryer stopped working. Well not stopped working but it tries to start but wont turn over. I tried the whole hold the button in and start it by spinning it with my hand. It worked after I did that. So does this mean it is the dryer motor??? If so, then can someone help me with what part I need?:confused: Thanks.

Here are your parts

The motor is item 630 in section 04.

Could be that the motor is jammed solid with lint and this is affecting the centrifugal mechanism. Also could be a loose connection. So I would check these before ordering a motor.

The reason for the above is that the one of the centrifugal switches is connected to the motors start winding so if the switch is in the activated position then the motor will not start.

Before ordering anything I would check the belt, the front drum support glides, the rear support bearing, the idler wheel etc., just so you have a total cost of what it will be to overhaul the unit as it may not be worth fixing.

if the motor part already costs that much I might as well get a new dryer. Not sure how to check all of those things out. How would I go about seeing if there is lint blocking the motor? Is the motor near the lint trap?

No you have to open the unit up to get at the motor.

I think the following video is far a dryer like yours.
