Interpreting the diagnostics cycle

Hello, and thanks for offering your expertise! My dishwasher sometimes runs all the way through, but mostly runs for a short time and then goes to a flashing “clean” light, after which I have to run the diagnostic cycle and try again. When it stops and I open the door there is a steamy heat. All the wires below the unit look clean and connected.

So, I suppose before ordering a new circuit board or hiring a repairperson I should understand the diagnostic cycle, but I can’t interpret it. What am I supposed to be looking for when it’s running? I have the service technician’s pamphlet where it shows a grid of intervals, etc., but I don’t know how to interpret it or look for an error. The part no. to the pamphlet is 8535451.

Thanks for any help you can offer!

Jeff

In short, I’m hoping someone can tell me what I should be looking for during the diagnostics cycle to tell if there’s a problem. Is it a timing thing or will there be led lights? And what are the black boxes on the diagnostics grid?

Thanks
Jeff

One more try. Anyone? I thought this would be a no-brainer for the pros.
