Hi, I’m hopeful someone here can help me understand the cause behind a warm condition with my side by side refrigerator/freezer. I came out one morning to find most of the food nearly thawed, only liquids that were frozen solid like milk & ice cubes have remained. Operating temperatures checked w/ a multi-meter digital thermometer are: freezer between 23-27 degrees/ refrigerator between 40-43 degrees. These temps have been constant for more than a week (eating out’s getting expensive). The condenser fan is running constantly, the compressor is very warm, not hot, to the touch and there is no water in the drain pan and no moisture anywhere inside or outside of the unit, that I can see. The thermostat controls are maxed. I have a mechanical background, not refrigeration. Can anyone here help me with a diagnostic procedure I can follow in determining the cause of this warm condition? Thank you in advance. Ron
Pull the back wall of the freezer and take a picture of the coils and post it here or a link to it elsewhere.
Does it have no frost, some frost, or is it frosted over?
Remove Part 20 in diagram to access coils.

Solid block of ice on top of condenser coils. Condenser fan is running, compressor still running. Not sure if this is a defrost heater failure (replaced about 3 years ago, or an issue with part of the thermo sensing &/or thermostat switching system that signals the heater to cycle on…or something else entirely. I look forward to your reply. I’ve attached a photo of the condenser coils as requested.
