Based on what you’re describing, it sounds like the issue may be related to one of the valve switches.
To test them, start by unplugging the power cord and turning off the gas supply to the appliance for safety. From there:
Remove the grates, knobs, burner heads, and venturi tubes.
Once those parts are removed, the top panel can be lifted and separated from the cooktop assembly.
This will give you access to the burner valve switches.
To test the switches:
Disconnect one wire from the switch you are testing.
Use a multimeter set to continuity.
Check the switch while it is in the OFF position.
If there is continuity while the switch is in the off position, that switch has failed and will need to be replaced.
Even if you find one failed switch, it’s a good idea to test all of the switches while you have access. This helps ensure there isn’t a secondary failure that could cause the issue to return later. Let us know what you find and we’ll be happy to help with the next steps.
