Ignitor Glows Gas Valve not opening

I have a Modern Maid gas double wall oven model no PHO103-UD its over 10 years old the igniter lites for the oven but the gas does not come on, the broiler works fine. Is there a switch in the igniter to open the gas valve

I have the same oven and have to replace the ignitor every couple of years.

I’m currently in the process of replacing them again. In the past the part I’v bought was Ignitor Kit 309151 from Amana.

I replacement process is pretty simple once you find the part. The instruction explain how to modify the mount for the ignitor if your hasn’t been changed before.

Hot surface ignitors activate the gas valve when the current flowing through them rises as they get hot and reach the current draw value for the valve. As the ignitor get old it’s resistance goes up and even though it gets hot enough to light the gas it doesn’t draw enough current to open the valve to provide the gas.
