Igniter repair

Hi. I’ve Read Some Of The Posts On Similar Questions And Your Answers Seemed To Be Very Helpful. Perhaps You Can Help With Our Ge Profile Model Jgsp44bey2bb.

After Our Stove Top Was Cleaned, Probably With Water And Some Detergent Like Soft Scrub, The Right Front Burner Won’t Click Or Ignite. This Burner Can Be Lit Manually With A Match. All The Other Three Burners Click And Ignite.

  1. Do You Think Just Replacing The Electrode Could Solve This?

  2. Would Replacing It With One Of The Working Electrodes Be A Way To Check? If Yes, What Would Be The Steps To Take?

  3. If No, What Do You Recommend And What Would Be The Exact Steps To Take? A Diagram And Any Video Would Be Appreciated.

Thanks So Much For Your Help.

Peter

Hi Peter,

I would suspect the ignition switch for this burner rather than the igniter because it’s sitting on the gas valve shaft and can be easy damaged (shorted) with any liquid. One more reason why I do think so is because it does not click when you turn it on.

Thanks Gene. Could you list/show by video the steps necessary to replace the switch?

Unfortunately I don’t have such video.
