I have a Whirlpool side by side, model GS5HAXNL00.The water to the ice maker keeps running and overflows. I unplugged the ice maker and the water continues to run so I’m guessing it’s a valve issue.

You are on the right track. Most likely the problem is a bad water inlet valve. If you need the correct part number, verify and repost the model number.

Thank you. I’d like to order the part from you. One question … where is the inlet valve located?

It is located on the back of the refrigerator. You will see the water lines connected to it. Do not forget to shut off the water supply for the refrigerator before doing anything else.

Gene,
I received the part today. It took about 10 minutes to replace. The instructions were perfect. The ice maker is cranking out ice and I don’t have an ice waterfall inside my freezer. You rock!
