Hi, there is a pump. i just replaced that about 2 months ago and it was working perfectly. i replaced the pump with a part from appliancepartspros (not an aftermarket thing from ebay or something)
Okay, so from past experience, those pumps can get an air bubbles in them and act as if they are full of water, then shuts down. When you open and close the door, it pops that bubble and comes back on. I know it sounds crazy. I used to walk up to them and just bump the icemaker and they would start working. Really the only sure fire way of fixing this is to have the drain set up with a gravity feed where the pump is removed. You may or may not be able to do that. Also, there is no refrigeration in the ice bin. It is constantly making and thawing out.
thank you. not sure how to set up for gravity fed, but it sits on the floor and the drain hose is connected to the nearest sink drain but it’s probably technically a light “uphill” if that makes sense. the drain pump is brand new!!
I don’t think replacing the pump would fix it. It is just a design flaw, in my opinion. I have seen some use a sump similar to what would be in an HVAC system. You just need a way of removing the melting ice and any water from the rinse cycle when it starts a new batch of ice.
In that case, keep bumping it to get it started or replace the pump again. You don’t have many options at this point. If it were mine, I would try and set up a sump system like what the HVAC units use. All you are trying to do is pump the water into the sink. i don’t want to tell you how to do it incase something goes wrong and you flood your kitchen.
