Main Symptom: doesn’t make ice
What happens & when: When I push the lever it makes a humming noise, but nothing comes out. I asked for a new icemaker and was sent a box of random parts. I installed them as I was instructed, and nothing changed.

Is there water in the icemaker mold? Does it freeze into ice? Pushing the paddle on the dispenser does not turn on or operate the icemaker, all that does is dispense ice that is in the bucket.

I don’t know how to check that. I know there’s water, because the water side works. When I asked for a replacement ice maker, I was sent wires and end pieces.

Getting water out the front dispenser does not mean you are getting water to the icemaker. Can you reach into the icemaker or pull it back out to see if there is water or ice in the icemaker? I am assuming you replaced all the parts that were required for your icemaker?

It was totally empty when I pulled it out. When I ordered parts, they only sent me wires and end pieces. I’m assuming it’s the motor, but since they don’t do refunds, I’m afraid to order anything else.

You should have received an icemaker with the wire harness. The two harnesses were for man icemaker that had a on/off switch on the icemaker and those that did not. See if there is any ice in the fill tube that may be blocking water from getting into the icemaker. It is located just above the icemaker fill cup on the ceiling of the housing.

Apparently those icemakers are no longer manufactured. I removed everything. There was not water or ice anywhere. The tube in the back was already replaced. I’ve also checked to see if there was ice build up.

The parts they sent didn’t have directions, so the rep emailed me a black and white copy, even though all the wires are colored. I don’t have anything explaining what any of those parts are that you’re asking me to check. Sorry :frowning:

Then the inlet valve is not sending water to the icemaker, and it will need to be replaced.WPW10312696 Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve | Genuine Whirlpool OEM In Stock

OK, thank you for your help. I wish they would have told me that before I already spent $150
