Brand:kitchenaid
Model Number:KFIL27CXMS2
Main Symptom:ice maker not working
What happens & when:

I had a small leak at the water dispenser on the door, and I replaced the smart valve at the back of the refrigerator pt# WPW10270395. After that the leak was fixed but now the ice maker is not working. It never fills with water. Went into the diagnostics and was not able to get the ice maker fill valve to operate. One thing to note is that the new valve had the water outlet facing the opposite direction of the original, I had to mount it sideways to allow for the water lines to connect, it had the same part # as the old valve, the ice. Any ideas on what the problem is?

If you access the smart valve and test from the tan wire with white stripe to the white wire, does it show 120 Volts AC (it should have voltage for about 9 seconds) within 2 minutes of pressing the ice maker test switch? If it does, and water does not come into the ice maker, the same test would be done while testing from the solid tan wire to the white wire to see if 120 Volts AC is present (it should have voltage for about 9 seconds) within 2 minutes.

I tested both wires and got 120 v after putting it in diagnostics #18 and pushing the button on the ice maker. When I pushed the button without it in diagnostics nothing happened. Never had any water , the water dispenser works fine.

This test identified that the smart valve is sending voltage out to the dual valve in the top of the refrigerator section. The fill tube would need to be checked from the valve to the ice maker for any frozen section of line, cleared if necessary, and the dual valve replaced.
