My ice maker stopped making ice about a month ago. I turned the ice maker off & on & it resumed making ice. This happened again a week or two later. Now it has stopped and will not restart. There is a orange light on the ice maker control panel in the freezer that is blinking. The pattern is 2 blinks, then a pause, then 2 blinks, etc… The water dispenser is working however.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be and how best to address it?
Make sure the ice maker “on-off” switch on the right side is in “on” position. Open the freezer door, press in the emitter flapper door (on the left side) to unblock the optics beam and view the diagnostics “status” LED on the right side.
If it flashes then the optic boards have to be replaced.
If it stays “on” then the ice maker is bad.

Gene,
Thank you for the quick reply. Looks like the ice maker is bad. 2 questions; (1) You provided me a link for the replacement parts for the Whirlpool KSCS25INSS00. I have a KitchenAid. Same Parts? (2) I’m not sure which parts I need. Is ityour suggestion that all parts should be replaced?
Kitchen Aid is part of Whirlpool and all Kitchen Aid parts made by Whirlpool.
If there is nothing wrong the optics then I would recommend to replace the whole ice maker. The rate of success for ice makers repair is very low.
