Brand: Kenmore Elite Model Number: 79572053117 Main Symptom: The ice is not ejecting into the bin What happens & when: The water is flowing to the ice maker, however, once the ice is done it just sits there and doesn’t eject into the bin.
I’m trying to determine if I need to replace the auger motor or the ice maker assembly?
Before I changed any parts I would check all connections and make sure the optical sensors on the ice maker are aligned
Run the refrigerator’s ice maker test. With the ice bucket installed and the freezer door closed, press and hold the TEST button on the bottom of the ice maker for about 3–5 seconds. The ice maker should complete a harvest cycle and, if the optics detect the bucket correctly, fill with water at the end of the cycle.
If the sensors appear to be aligned but the ice maker still won’t operate, the issue could be with one of the optic sensor boards, the wiring harness, or the main control board.
I used the TEST button and it drops the ice into the bucket and fills the water. But it never ejects the ice automatically to start the next cycle. You have to keep pressing the TEST button to eject the ice. Does this help in determining what part may be needed?
