I recently replaced the filter housing on my GE refrigerator after buying the part on appliancepartspros.com. It was a relatively simple repair - just swapping out the parts. When the ice maker fills with water you can tell that the line is a bit strained - it’s louder than before and the sound is sort of choppy. The ice maker seems to be making ice normally and the sound doesn’t happen on the fridge dispenser line at all. I wonder if the line that goes to the ice maker is too compressed under that plate that goes on the outside of the fridge and points the line down? That’s the only thing I can think of. Anyway. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
What is the model # on the fridge?
I have a video of the sound but I can’t seem to upload it.
I’d make sure that line is fully seated at the valve and check the fill tube on the back of the unit running up to the fill tube for an kinks or flat spots. If it looks like it needs to be replaced you can get the fill tube assembly with the line, part # WR17X11168.
