Ice maker makes ice fine but the “dump” cycle only releases half the tray of ice. Subsequent fill cycle fills the empty half and remaining water (which should go into second half of tray still filled with ice) overflows into ice tray. After a bit the ice tray is a solid block of ice.
Do I toss the ice maker or is there a fix?
Is this a flex tray ice maker?
Your model number is missing a few digits.
I think the replacement ice maker is a more reliable design. Probably this part.

No not that one. Ice Maker P/N is AEQ72909603.
You’re IM is a flex tray and they always have trouble with hard water. It makes the cubes stick.
The one I showed you is a more durable replacement IM.
But if you want to replace just the tray, there might be replacement ones available. Not sure if this will fit. You might want to ask the guys that sell the parts.
