no matter what position selected the ice maker only dispenses crushed ice
we can’t make whole or solid ice

The first thing I would do is check the solenoid (#3 on the break down diagram) for continuity. Check if there is 120VAC coming to the solenoid while the dispenser call for cubes. Post the results.
