Ice Cream melts in Freezer

I have a model RS22CFXT000 Roper Side X Side that is 3 years old. The ice cream will melt in the freezer, but everything else is frozen. Refrigerator is fine. At one point stuff started to thaw, but froze back. I took the back panel off the freezer and there is frost build up at the bottom of the inside coil , but not at the top. There is not enough build up to block air movement. All the fans inside and out are blowing good. I no longer have Ice cream in there and all the meat is rock hard. The current temp in the freezer is -12 F When the problem started I think I had the freezer too packed full to move any air. So I took a lot of stuff out, (enough for proper circulation) but that didn’t help the ice cream. Now it is almost empty and has been for a while. The ice in the ice bin will wither away over time. Is this a closed system problem?

Thanks in advance

Remove the rear cover and make sure the condenser (#3 on the diagram) is clean.

Hello,

I took a look at it and it was a little dirty, but not bad. Air should still have been able to pass through and cool it. Either way, I cleaned it off. My build up of ice is almost 1/4 inch thick on the pipe at the bottom of the coil and none by the time it gets up to the top by the fan.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks

Sounds like there is a problem with the compressor. The further diagnostics should be done by a pro.
