How do you test the heating element to determine if it is faulty? I was told that the ohm reading for a new element should be 16.3 ohms. What readings would indicate a faulty element?
Does the dishwasher unit have to be removed from under the counter and the element removed from the dishwasher in order to perform the testing?
The control fuse (8193762) was found blown so I assume there is something else going on to cause this.

What readings would indicate a faulty element?
This heating element is just a straight piece of ni-chrome wire so it cannot short back on itself (reducing the resistance) and draw more current.
If could short to the frame if the coating went bad at a support.
You could check from connections to the frame, should be infinite ohms.
I would do this at the control board connections.
Did you find the wiring diagram/tech sheet behind the kick plate under the unnit.
It is unlikely to be the cause.

Also the other electrical parts in the unit.
It is not uncommon for the to blow the fuse (Item 6 in Section 1) without an external cause. It also has been updated with a new harness.
I checked the resistance of the heating coil and got a reading of 9.8 ohms, the diagram said it should be 10 to 35 ohms so I guess its okay. I replaced the fuse with the new fuse kit and it seams to be working now.
