I hope that I can get to this part WITHOUT removing the entire washing machine cover from the wash bin…In other words I hope that this is doable by entry through the removed console and that I can avoid taking the entire

You have to remove the case of the washer. Once you got it off the switch is on the bottom of the case. There are pictures and videos on this page Whirlpool Washer Disassembly Guide
Thank You so much when the part arrives I will get started. Is it difficult to get the case back on correctly? Any potential difficulties I should be aware of as I have never done such a job before. I never disasembled a washer and naturally do not want it to vibrate upon reassembling. Thanks again, Tom.
