How to remove agitator

HelpPlease!!!
Washer does everything but agitate. You can hear a grinding sounding but theagitator will not move. I have a Westinghouse Model MWX433REW0 Washer.

Hi.

Unscrew the agitator cap, remove the screw and check through the center opening if the transmission shaft is moving back and forth in agitation.
If it does - pull out the agitator AP2591617

and check the splines inside and hub splines

If not, then most likely it’s a bad transmission

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Universal / Multiflex (frigidaire) Washer-5995285052 Motor / Tub parts for Frigidaire MWX433REW0 - AppliancePartsPros.com

I’ve removed the agitator, and the splines look fine. The shift will only turn in one direction. It will agitate if there are no clothes in the machine, once clothes are added then it will not agitate.

Hi.

Check if you can hold the transmission shaft with you hands.
If you do - then it’s bad tranny.
