How to change dryer bulb?

I just bought a replacement bulb for my Frigidaire dryer and have no idea how to remove the old bulb or install the new bulb.

It is not threaded like a traditional bulb that you turn clockwise to install.

It is a tiny 7 watt bulb, with two raised bumps, one each on opposite sides of an otherwise smooth base. I’m presuming that I maybe push it in and twist it clockwise, but no matter how I work the old bulb it doesn’t want to come out of the socket. I’m afraid if I crank it too hard it will shatter and then it will be even harder to replace!

The bulb I bought has an Appliance Parts Pros part number of AP2153131.

Here’s the page with a picture of the bulb:

There is no cover or shield in the way of the old bulb; it is exposed within a recessed cavity on the side of the front load opening of the dryer.

Anyone think they have the answer?!

I think it should be anticlockwise.

Try pushing it all the way in and twisting it.
If that does not work try pushing it part way in and twisting it.

If/when you get it out note which little nub goes where.
On these bulbs often they are not the same distance up from the bottom and you need to put the new bulb in with the same orientation.

I was just nervous and didn’t want the bulb to break and cut my fingers because I was forcing it a way that it wasn’t supposed to go. But thanks to your advice I pushed it in and cranked on it hard counter-clockwise and after wiggling it the bulb came out. New bulb went in the clockwise and it works great!

Thanks again denman!

You are welcome.

Glad to hear you got it fixed.
These bulbs are a pain and I also worry about getting cut especially when they put them in tight places where you cannot get in with gloves.

I think it is counterclockwise.
