Hotpoint Washer will aggitate but not spin

My Hotpoint washer (VBSR2080W1WW) has been working fine up until yesterday. It will fill with water, agitate, and drain water, but will not spin the clothes to get the remaining water out. We opened up the front of the washer and found a pile of fine shavings of rubber on the bottom of the washer. We ran the washer, it drained the water, and then something clicked and the tub seamed like it would start to spin but then stopped. But the motor, belt and fan continued to spin, but the tub did not. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

You say the belt is spinning, what about the large pulley under the transmission? Is it spinning or is not moving but belt is slipping on it?

I tested it again. On the bottom of the motor there is a belt which I’m guessing is attached to the motor and tub. It looked like it was jamming a little so I gave it a push and it would start to spin the tub but then it looked like it jammed up. Does just the belt need to be replaced?

What is going on when running in spin mode? Is motor pulley rotating? Is clip on bottom of motor shaft rotating? Is belt rotating? There is a clutch inside the pulley. Could be clutch problem, worn/loose belt, faulty transmission, clothing between tubs. Need some feedback on my questions. Upload video to youtube showing motor and pulleys when in spin mode.

The motor pulley seams to start to turn then stop then struggle to turn. The pin on the bottom on the motor shift is spinning fine. Here is a link to a video.

The other part of the pulley system under the tub spins and rubs against a metal piece making the clanging noise.

The belt is way too loose. Is the belt properly engaged into the groove of the transmission drive pulley? If so, loosen the four motor mounting nuts and pull motor forward to tighten belt and retighten nuts while holding motor forward. Don’t go too tight, just snug. If motor is all the way forward in mounting slots and belt is still not tight enough, then you need a new belt.
